ATC Gives Back
ATC Development has a company culture of making a positive difference in people’s lives. Providing housing to thousands is a great responsibility that we take very seriously. With every apartment community that we build or renovate, the end goal is to create a peaceful and friendly neighborhood people are proud to call home. ATC enjoys contributing to the community in ways that improve quality of life and offer individuals learning and growth opportunities.
Providing a Temporary Friendly Home
ATC Development has partnered with the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University to offer something unique to patients and their families. Many cancer patients travel great distances to get the care needed and often cannot afford local accommodations while receiving daily treatments. ATC wanted to contribute in a way that highlights what they do best, provide apartment homes.
The partnership began in May 2017, when ATC set up a fully furnished corporate apartment at the Avalon apartment community. The unit is a two bedroom, two full bath that comes equipped with all linens, dishes, appliances and even cable and internet. When patients are going through extensive cancer treatments, their home may be a few hours’ drive away. This apartment makes a great place to rest and be comfortable instead of making the tiring commute. For patients and their families not to have to worry about lodging, and the expenses of extended stays due to complex medical situations, having a place to stay near the Cancer Center also helps relieve anxiety and stress.
ATC has recruited help from all staff members to aid the patients and their families in some special way. One mother receiving treatments had a teenage son starting school, and she had no time to do any of his back to school shopping. ATC took the school supply list and rallied the troops to collect all of the items needed, plus took up a donation to go towards his school clothes. The family was extremely grateful!

Tee Off Fore Tatas
The Apartment Association of Greater Augusta hosts an annual charity golf tournament, Tee Off Fore Tatas. Each year, ATC’s Vice President of Operations, Shelly Martin, chairs the event. Funds raised go towards breast cancer research at the Georgia Cancer Center. In the last eight years, the tournament has raised more than $82,000! Many of the ATC staff members participate in this event, along with other businesses and apartment communities in the area.

Boot Scoot Boogie
The American Red Cross helps thousands in time of need. The Augusta chapter raises money through its annual Boot Scoot Boogie. Proceeds assist with providing temporary housing to those who have been displaced due to a house fire, training thousands of individuals on CPR and First Aid and collecting lifesaving blood and platelet donations.
In 2018, ATC sponsored a table to involve staff members in the fun event that raised around $100,000 for the cause! https://www.facebook.com/events/366776087095652/
